Monroe, NC. For most of my life, I have done photography as a hobby, and last 10 years as a part-time professional photographer and teacher. I always wonder what it would take to become a fine art photographer. Landscape and sometimes coming up with some creative shots that would sell in stores. I have been known as a moments photographer and it allowed my work to be seen nationwide and even on TV locally.

At the end of last year, a local artist store allowed me to sell my work in their store selling pictures of historical local buildings as postcards. They let me rent part of the wall to try to sell larger prints. After 3 months the only selling was still my postcards but no big prints. This last month one piece finally sold. The owner was excited for me and encouraged me to keep working on big prints he lets me know what their customers are looking for. What I have learned with my postcards is what pictures sell and what doesn’t.

I always wondered what it took for a photographer to get his pictures sold in the big chain stores like Hobby Lobby, Kirkland’s, and so on. My goal for the rest of 2022 is to learn what is fine art photography exactly and start putting my work into sites to have others help me find what I am missing and how to improve. Time to enter photography and art contests again.

Let me know if your photographer I would love to follow your work if you are on Instagram or any other social media.
